Finding apartments near UW-Stout has always been a chore, and when you’re new to the rental game, UW-stout apartments can be harder to find than Waldo. So act fast when you find the right house or apartment near UW-Stout. And to make sure you find what you're looking for, we'll even follow up with you and the landlord to make sure you have found your perfect house.
UW-Stout students with hopes of finding the best UW-Stout off-campus housing will want to begin their hunt at the beginning of the school year. Students who start looking for UW-Stout apartments and houses near campus in August or September, right after moving in, are going to get the best spots. It seems crazy, but with the limited number of available houses for rent in Menomonie and intense competition to find a place to live in with friends, the number of housing searches peaks in September and October.
After winter break, housing searches dies down as the spring semester begins and students begin to sign more and more leases around the area. If you're looking for a one bedroom or studio apartment, you should be in good shape at any point during the second semester. But we always encourage renters to get started sooner rather than later.
Compared to most average rent prices at other college towns, the average rent for houses and apartments near UW-Stout is pretty affordable. Your rent price will rise and fall depending on a few factors such as: if you plan to live alone or with roommates if you’re looking into a house or an apartment, which amenities you “need”, and how close to campus you are. One of the best ways to lower the cost of living off-campus near UW-Stout is by living with a couple of friends. Living alone can be worth it to have your own space and a bunch of privacy. However, living solo tends to be the most expensive living option on most campuses, including UW-Stout. It’s not just that rent tends to be a bit higher, but it’s also because you’ll have to pay for 100% of your utilities (if they aren’t included in your rent), and groceries.
