If you’re a student attending the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh with hopes of finding the best house or apartment near campus, you will want to start your off-campus housing hunt early in the fall semester - almost right after you get done moving into your current place. That may seem a little extreme, but the number of searches for Oshkosh apartments and houses for rent spikes during October and November for the following school year.
With that in mind, it's suggested to start your search in September if you're trying to land something super specific. However, if you're pretty flexible on the type of rental and the features, you can put off your housing search till later in the semester. The only downside to waiting is that you'll have fewer options to choose from.
Rent prices for houses and apartments in Oshkosh, WI are fairly affordable. You can expect to be paying around $400 per month per person. Depending on the type of rental you choose, that number can obviously go up or down. The most expensive option to UWO students would be living alone. As there are fewer studios and one-bedroom apartments in Oshkosh, there is a bit more demand for them - which is why they'll be more expensive than the more standard two or more bedroom rental. Essentially, the more roommates you decide to have, the more money you’ll save! By getting a four-bedroom unit you’ll save, on average, half as much as you would living alone.
