So you can say goodbye to the days of aimlessly walking around town searching for For Rent signs, and hello to the future of off-campus housing.
All of the off-campus apartments and houses for rent have been verified and approved by our diligent team so you'll be sure to find a place you'll love using College Pads today!
Unlike most campuses, Utah Valley University doesn’t have any on-campus housing options for students, i.e. there are no dorms on campus. You may be a little bummed that you won’t get the dorm-life experience, but trust us when we say that the only experience you’re missing out on is having to do an awkward shuffle down the hall to your RA’s room in a towel and flip flops because your roommate “accidentally” locked you out while you were in the shower.
Since you’ve probably never lived on your own before, you may not know how and when to start your search for your very first apartment or house in Orem, UT near UVU. Well, we have good news. You seem to already have the “how” part down since you’re currently on the UVU off-campus housing page. The “when” part is a little bit trickier to answer.
When to start your search for UVU off-campus housing depends on what exactly you’re looking for. Do you want a house or an apartment? How many people do you want to live with? What part of town do you want to be in? What’s your budget? If you’re not super choosy about anything, you can start your search a little later in the game. As a good rule of thumb, you should try to start your search a few months before you plan to move in. A majority of students at UVU start their search in January, but the off-campus housing hunt doesn’t really get too competitive until February/March. If you’re looking for something a little more specific, you should try to start your search a bit earlier than that.
Fortunately for you, apartments and houses for rent in Orem, UT are actually pretty affordable. Sure, there are some more expensive rentals out there, but as long as you put a minimal amount of effort into your UVU off-campus housing search you’ll be able to find an inexpensive apartment or house for rent.
If you’re looking to save yourself some money every month (who isn’t) you should look into teaming up with a few people and rent a place together. We know that sometimes roommates can be the actual worst, but having a few can save you hundreds of dollars every semester on rent. Plus, the more people there are to split the cost of utilities and groceries, the cheaper it’ll be for you.
If you absolutely refuse to have a roommate, know that living on your own can be pretty expensive. So, unless you’ve got an “in” with a landlord, you’re going to be paying a pretty penny for a studio or one-bedroom apartment in Orem.
