Since Tampa is a major metropolitan area, there’s always going to be lots of different apartments to choose from year-round. However, keep in mind that lots of corporate apartments start asking for renewals in October, so if you want to live in a corporate complex close to campus, keep that in mind. Overall, the biggest factor here is how close you want to be to USF: if you want to be able to walk to class, start searching as early as possible, but if you have a car or don’t mind taking the bus to school, you can look for an apartment whenever it’s convenient.
Houses and apartments near USF are in a major metropolitan area, which means they’re going to be a little pricier than other places. Still, it’s possible to get a pretty good deal if you live with a few others in a 3-bedroom apartment or home.

And that’s just a tiny fraction of the incredible restaurants and pubs around USF! When you’re not eating and drinking, why not head down to The Florida Aquarium and check out the underwater life? After you’re done with that, head on down to Ybor City and explore its historical roots (and beyond its history, it’s just plain beautiful to look at).
But you don’t have to go far from campus just to have fun! USF offers students all sorts of awesome experiences, too. Why not catch a few beads during the USF Homecoming parade in fall? Or, for a more peaceful experience, take a stroll through the South Florida Botanical Gardens. Then there’s the IMAX theatre at MOSI, the kayak trips you can take at USF’s Riverfront Park, the spring dance marathon… the list goes on. Now go out and seize the day!
