Even in a big city, there are plenty of activities that cater to all outdoor lovers! Point Park University is located just minutes away from Point State Park. This park is the “point” where the beautiful Monongahela and Allegheny Rivers meet forming the Ohio River. This breathtaking park is a secluded area making you forget that you’re in the middle of the city. As mentioned above, students come here to play sports games and relax but the enormous, peaceful fountain. In addition, students can also kayak the rivers here or start the 150-mile hiker-biker trail all the way to Cumberland, MD.

Things to do
A liberal arts college, Point University may be a small school (under 4,000 students) but it’s located right in the heart of Downtown Pittsburgh providing tons of things to do, all in walking distance! Stepping off-campus puts you right in the middle of all the hustle and bustle. As an art school, one can only imagine how much Point Park students love the arts. Just down the block, you can walk to the Pittsburgh Ballet and Symphony to catch weekly performances. Attending plays at the Pittsburgh Playhouse is also extremely popular amongst Point students. Both collegiate and professional sports teams are bountiful in Pitt; with the university’s own NAIA sports teams and the city’s Pittsburgh Steelers or Penguins, there’s always a fun game to catch-students receive discounted tickets. During breaks between classes Point students hang out in Village Park or head over to Point State Park to toss a football around or relax by the fountain. Lastly, students can soak up the historical culture of Pitt by visiting the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, the Andy Warhol Museum, or ride the incline to the top of Mount Washington.
