Carson is a medium sized city not far south of LA and just a fifteen-minute drive north of Long Beach, putting Cal State - Dominguez Hills in the middle of all the fun and access to everything you need.
On campus, CSUDH students enjoy hanging out with one another at the Loker Student Union game room and lounge to shoot some pool, eat some wings, and maybe enter the karaoke contest. The majority of students get involved in one of the hundreds of on campus clubs from video games to Latin dance, there’s something for everyone. Students also enjoy attending the many events on campus like Toro sports games, open-mic night, movie nights, and theater performances.
Just off-campus, students can head to Dignity Health Sports Park, home of the LA Galaxy soccer team, and soon to be the home of XFL team the LA Wildcats … but we’ll see how long that lasts. Throughout the year, students get discounted tickets too so watch for those promotions!
For more off-campus fun, round up your friends and head to K1 Speed and race go karts indoors or head to Long Beach for some fun in the sun. If you’re trying to press your luck and pay off the college tuition, make your way to Hustler Casino. Los Angeles is less than 20 miles away and if you don’t have a car, students can hop on the bus or train to get there quick and beat the traffic.

On the Dominguez Hills campus, students like to engage in numerous physical activities together. Several intramural and club sports are offered on campus, from tennis to fly fishing to softball and everything in between. Dominguez Hills students also have access to the many indoor and outdoor fields, an outdoor swimming pool, fitness facilities where you can participate in group workouts like zumba or fitness bootcamp.
The Dominguez Hills campus is wide open and students often like to find a place in the grass to set up a picnic, take a catnap in between classes in the warm Cali sun, or toss a ball with friends. Students also frequent the nearby city of Long Beach to hangout on the popular beaches like Junipero. Here, they catch a tan, play volleyball, and surf!
